Project Overview:

Thermopools, an innovative leader in Australia’s pool heating industry, has earned a stellar reputation for its advanced solar pool heating solutions. The company’s solutions are not just focused on providing warmth, but also on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Their dedication to helping homeowners save on energy costs while reducing their environmental footprint makes them a go-to solution for eco-conscious pool owners.

However, despite their innovative products and services, Thermopools faced a significant challenge: their website was not reflecting the same level of innovation and efficiency. Customers struggled to navigate the site, resulting in high bounce rates and lost opportunities. Recognising the importance of digital presence in driving their business forward, Thermopools decided it was time for a major website overhaul.

The Problem:

Thermopools’ old website, though functional, had several issues that hindered both user experience and business growth:

Complex Navigation:
The site’s navigation was cluttered and unintuitive, making it difficult for visitors to find key information about solar pool heating systems, installation services, and maintenance. Users often left the site frustrated, resulting in a high bounce rate.

Outdated Structure and Poor SEO Performance:
The content structure was disorganised, which not only made it hard for visitors to navigate, but also negatively affected the website’s search engine rankings. The site lacked the necessary SEO practices to gain visibility and attract more organic traffic.

Slow Load Times:
Slow website performance was another significant issue. With images and scripts that were not optimised, users faced long load times, which led to higher bounce rates and missed opportunities for engagement.

Lack of Focus on Core Services:
Thermopools’ core offerings, especially its solar pool heating systems and professional installation services, were buried within the site. Potential customers found it difficult to locate critical information that could guide their decision-making process.

The Vision:

Thermopools knew that in order to grow and expand their business, their online presence had to be as efficient and sustainable as the products they offered. They needed a website that would not only showcase their advanced solar pool heating technology but also deliver a seamless, user-friendly experience. The new website would:

Prioritise Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Reflect Thermopools’ core values of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Improve User Experience: Provide an easy-to-navigate structure that allows visitors to find information quickly and effortlessly.

Increase Conversion Rates: Turn visitors into leads by promoting services clearly, optimising for mobile devices, and ensuring the website is fast and efficient.

Boost Visibility: Optimise the website for search engines, helping Thermopools reach more potential customers.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Discovery & Research

The first step in the redesign process was understanding the users.

Stakeholder Interviews: We met with the team to understand their vision, goals, pain points, and brand positioning. We gathered insights into their target audience, competitive landscape, and the problems they wanted to solve with the redesign.

User Research: We analyzed the existing website’s analytics to determine user behavior, drop-off points, and engagement metrics.

Competitive Analysis: We researched competitors’ websites to identify design trends, user expectations, and common pain points in the kitchen and bathroom hardware industry. This helped us spot opportunities for differentiation and areas that needed improvement.

Step2: Wireframing & Information Architecture

The next step was to define the structure and layout of the site to ensure a logical and seamless flow for users.

Sitemap Creation: We organized the content into a clear and intuitive structure. Pages like "Products," "Services," "Projects," and "Request a Quote" were prioritized and restructured to streamline navigation.

Wireframes: We created wireframes for the key pages to lay out the content and structure. The emphasis was on clarity, ease of navigation, and creating a simplified flow for users to request quotes.

Step 3: UI Design

We embarked on designing a new, intuitive layout. The focus was on simplicity and clarity:

Simple, Intuitive Navigation: The new site structure divided key services into clearly labelled categories such as “Solar Pool Heating Systems,” “Installation Services,” and “Pool Maintenance & Repairs.” Each service had its own dedicated page, designed to provide detailed, accessible information.

Highlighted Core Services: The solar pool heating systems, which were Thermopools’ flagship offering, were prominently featured on the homepage, with a clear call-to-action encouraging users to learn more or get a free quote.

Engaging Visuals: High-quality images and videos were integrated, showcasing the solar pool heating systems in action, and explaining the environmental and financial benefits.

Step 4: Mobile-Responsive Design

With a growing number of users accessing websites via mobile devices, it was crucial that Thermopools’ new site functioned seamlessly across all screen sizes. We adopted a fully responsive design, ensuring smooth navigation and a cohesive user experience on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

The site now dynamically adjusts based on the user’s device, providing an optimised layout and faster loading time, no matter how or where visitors access the site.

ABOUT US

Thermo Pools is an Australian owned and run business which has been in operation since 1975. The business has come a long way since first setting up manufacturing in Tasmania over 40 years ago.

In 1980, Thermo Pools relocated to Queensland and as the business grew, the Thermotube product developed and improved with CSIRO input. Ten years later and Thermo Pools travelled to NSW and has been based in Rouse Hill, Sydney ever since. The husband and wife team at Thermo Pools took over the business in 1998, moving manufacturing to Sydney, which ensured cost efficiencies for clients and gave Thermo Pools the opportunity to deal direct with the retail market.
